I feel that the best secret for women is their skin. Don't forget your neck, chest and hands. Hydrate, moisturize and use sunscreen on all areas exposed to sun. As we get older our lips start to look dry. Use a creamy lipstick or a product like rosebud salve over your lipstick. Dry lips make you look older.

When women put their makeup on they should apply either a moisturizer or a sunscreen/moisturizer combination before their foundation. Oily spots and dry spots occur naturally. You should start with a consistent, moist surface over the entire skin so that the foundation can go on thinner, more smoothly, and more evenly. If you put a moisturizer or a sunscreen/moisturizer combination over the foundation it will take your foundation off. The moisturizer or sunscreen/moisturizer combination also provides a protective barrier between the foundation and the skin.

For proper placement of blush think about where the sun naturally warms your face. The apples of your cheeks, lightly on your nose, forehead & chin. For a great smokey eye that's not too harsh, apply a burgundy tone to the lid of your eyes first then layer a gray tone over it.

As an industry hairstylist sometimes my work goes unnoticed and that’s good! Most actors wear some sort of "extra hair" or hairpiece for a character or for what I call our "private secret" – a receding hairline, thin crown, etc. I'm an expert at solving this but it takes time and energy, and it isn't easy, either! But now with Jan Marini's Age Intervention Revitalizing Hair Conditioner my work is much easier! I give it to all my actors that have a private secret! And yes my own private secret is no longer a secret. My hair had become thin and lost its density caused by stress. Since I began using the Hair Conditioner, my hair has become fuller and more lush!!!

Eyebrows are the picture frame to your eyes and should never be forgotten. As we mature our eyebrows start to thin out and it is important to fill the eyebrows back in. Start with picking out an eyebrow pencil that matches your hair. It is important to fill in any missing brows so that you can clearly see your eyebrows. I like to make this my final step in apply makeup. Tinting your brows is the best secret in Hollywood. Remember, if your eyebrows look full you look younger and your eyes really stand out.

Mid-day "Touch-Ups"
For normal to dry skin: Simply add an emollient cream under eyes and along the top of the cheekbone by gently "tapping" and not rubbing into the skin. This film will sink in over the next few hours delivering a highlighted glow. For oilier skin: Always have oil blotting sheets tucked away in purses, bathroom drawers and glove boxes, etc. I like to keep a small zip lock handy to dispose of them. This is a perfect touch-up and you won't need powder!

The most important component of a flawless makeup is good clean skin. Dry patches, clogged pores, tiny bumps will make any makeup look dull and unfinished. I suggest exfoliating twice a week with a light alpha hydroxy acid, glycolic or other chemical exfoliator. After that, a great serum and moisturizer will make any and all makeup go on beautifully.

To get a sun-kissed glow that looks healthy and real start with a peachy pink cream blush on the apples of the cheeks. My favorite is Stila Petunia. Blend well and powder with translucent powder. Lightly sweep a matte bronzer over the cheeks, forehead, nose and chin. My favorite is Cargo Matte Bronzer. The effect is fresher and more natural than straight bronzer.

I suggest that people look in the mirror and be aware of their skin's condition as it changes day to day due to the environment, products, stress, happiness, etc. This goes for checking makeup, remembering that less is more. I like to use makeup as an accent to enhance the appearance of beautiful skin.

My favorite tip right now is in using foundation, I create a "halo effect" by using the exact skin tone color along the jaw line and outer parts of the face. Next, I use a slightly lighter color around the mouth, on top of the nose, and on the eyelids. I then mix both the lighter and darker colors with just a hint of shimmer, keeping it sheer, and apply it to the cheeks. This gives a youthful, life-full effect, while still showing beautiful skin.
